US Blockade denounced in Finland during activities of the Cuban Cultural Days

Helsinki, October 18, 2018. As part of the several activities that take place during these days in Finland, on the occasion of the Cuban Cultural Days, the Ambassador of Cuba Eduardo Lazo Pérez gave a conference on Tuesday, October 16, at the Central Library of the city of Tampere, which brought together more than one hundred people, including former parliamentarians, members of the Finland-Cuba Friendship Association, Cuban residents and residents of that important city.

During his speech, the Cuban diplomat addressed various issues of current Cuban reality, including the progress of the constitutional reform process in Cuba, which has had the massive participation of the people in support of the Revolution and has added opinions of Cubans residing abroad. At the same time, he referred to the progress of the implementation of the process of updating the economic and social model, and also explained different topics on the country's history, cultural development and tourism.

Special interest raised the information offered by the Cuban Ambassador on the damages caused by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba, an opportunity that the Cuban representative used to thank the actions promoted by the solidarity movement with Cuba in Finland in order to denounce this hostile policy.

After the speech of the Ambassador spoke the journalist Folke West, who made an interactive presentation of several sites of historical, cultural and tourist interest in the Caribbean island. The activities in Tampere had as a prelude the presentation of a dance wheel in an important commercial center of the city, organized by Gabriel Rosell, Cuban resident and member of the Friendship Association Finland-Cuba.

The 11th Edition of the Cuban Cultural Days in Finland includes various activities in Helsinki, Vantaa, Turku and Tampere, with the valuable support and active participation of Cuban residents and Finnish friends (Report: Embassy of Cuba).
