Cuba denounced in the voice of its ambassador to the UN-Geneva, Juan Antonio Quintanilla, the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, which was described as a flagrant and systematic violation of human rights.
The diplomat delivered those remarks in the continuation of the activities of the 51st session of the Human Rights Council, a forum in which he rejected the siege imposed on the Cuban people by Washington for more than 60 years.
In his intervention in one of the debates, he reaffirmed the island's commitment to the realization and protection of all human rights for all, without political manipulation, selectivity or double standards.
Quintanilla also repudiated on the second day of the session, scheduled until October 7, the singling out of States in the area of human rights and the politically motivated exercises within the framework of the Council.
