As Vancouver shoppers take to the downtown streets in preparation for the upcoming holidays, Friends of Cuba Against the U.S. Blockade – Vancouver and other pro-Cuba local organizations and individuals will be out in the streets for a vigil to end the cruel and inhuman U.S. Blockade on Cuba.
Passersby will be invited to hold a candle for Cuba, sign the “Let Cuba Live” 1 million signatures petition, and sign a postcard to mail to U.S. President Biden demanding Cuba be removed from the so-called “State Sponsors of Terrorism” list.
The Coordinator of the Vancouver Monthly Car Caravan’s for Cuba, Andrew Barry explains, “With the end of 2023 rapidly approaching it is appropriate for us to reflect on another year of consistent and strong solidarity. I want to recognize and thank those who are participating in monthly car caravans in Vancouver and around the world. We must use the new year to continue our united work to defend Cuba from the unjust and immoral U.S. blockade.”
Azza Rojbi, Coordinator of Friends of Cuba Against the U.S. Blockade – Vancouver explains another reason for this important action, “This December we are marking the 9th anniversary of the freedom of all our 5 Cuban heroes held unjustly in U.S. jails for over 16 years. It is in the spirit of that victory we have continued our consistent work demanding an end to the unjust U.S. blockade on Cuba!”
March of 2021 saw Vancouver's first-ever Car Caravan for Cuba, actions have continued monthly in solidarity with the inspiring work of Cuban-American Carlos Lazo and Puentes de Amor.
Enough is enough, Lift the Blockade on Cuba now!
