VI Festival of Latin American Flavours held in Canberra

Canberra, 23 November - The Embassy of Cuba participated in the sixth edition of the Canberra Latin American Flavours Festival. This festival, which is usually organized annually by Latin American diplomatic missions accredited in Australia, had not been held since 2019 due to the Covid pandemic.

The opening remarks were delivered by the Ambassador of Argentina, the country in charge of organizing the event this year, who highlighted the distinctive elements of Latin America and the Caribbean as a region; especially in the rich culinary culture it possesses and which has transcended borders to conquer, with its peculiar flavour and aroma, the palate of millions of citizens in many countries, including Australia.

On the Australian side, several members of the Federal Parliament, Foreign Ministry officials, representatives of the academic field, cultural personalities and businessmen linked to the region attended the event. The guests were grateful for the annual development of the event that allows tasting typical dishes of our region and promoting the influence of Latin American cultures in Australia.

The evening was also an opportunity to enjoy typical dances from some of the countries present, including Cuba.
