Accra, November 14, 2023. - The Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, held a meeting with the former President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, at the latter's residence.
The two men discussed, with respect and admiration for the Cuban Revolution, issues of interest to both nations, especially those related to the training of Ghanaian professionals in the largest of the Antilles.
The former Ghanaian president dedicated emotional words to the Cuban doctors, expressing: “they work almost always in the most remote places of this country, in rural areas where sometimes the conditions are not the best, and yet they never stop doing their work”.
John Dramani Mahama, Ghanaian historian, writer and politician was President of Ghana from 24 July 2012 to 7 January 2017. About the meeting he wrote on his Twitter account: “It was an absolute pleasure to receive the Vice President of Cuba, H.E. Salvador Valdes Mesa, at my residence today. Engaging in fruitful discussions on our shared goals and aspirations, we reaffirmed the enduring bond between Ghana and Cuba. Thank you for your visit and continued partnership!”
For his part, the Vice President of the Republic of Cuba posted: “It makes me proud to feel how much #Cuba is admired and respected in #Africa. It was moving to hear the concepts that the former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, shared with us about the Cuban Revolution and our country during the meeting we held this Tuesday.”
