Visit of the President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cuba.

Abuja, September 20, 2023.- The president of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cuba, Senator Chinedu Joshua Obika was received this morning by Mrs. Miriam Morales Palmero, ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Nigeria on a courtesy visit.

During the meeting, Senator Chinedu thanked for the reception and reflected that together with him, a new period of interparliamentary relations between both countries was beginning. Topics of common interest were addressed, especially those referring to the facilities and knowledge that Cuba can provide to Nigeria, especially in the sectors of health, education and agriculture.

The Senator recognized the resistance of the Cuban people to the limitations caused by the United States blockade and highlighted the achievements despite all problems. He said that the essence of this parliamentary group was not only to speak and take positions, but rather it was to take actions to improve the situation in Cuba.

The ambassador thanked for the words conveyed and extended an invitation to visit Cuba and to be able to contact the members of the parliamentary group of friendship with Nigeria in Cuba and its main figures as a first step in order to strengthen ties between Cuba and Nigeria.

The Third Secretary, Ana Flavia Gómez Pavot, was also present on the Cuban side.
