Port of Spain, 9 November, 2015.- From 2nd to 7th of November, hosted by the Office of the Principal of the University of the West Indies and the Institute of International Relations at the university, a group of Cuban professors and researchers visited Trinidad and Tobago academic exchanges related to Cuba. The delegation was headed by Antonio Romero, president of the Chair of "Norman Girvan" Caribbean Studies at the University of Havana.
The program of the Cuban profesors in Trinidad and Tobago included a two-day seminar "Cuba and Caricom: Challenges to Regional Development and Cooperation" at the Institute of International Relations, a workshop at the Association of Caribbean States with the same name, an exchange with Trinidadian entrepreneurs, a presentation on a program of international analysis on television and a discussion open forum with students of the UWI.
Cuban professors spoke on issues related to the socio-economic reality of Cuba, including the updating of the economic model, demographic challenges, the new foreign investment law, the Cuban foreign policy and the process of normalization between Cuba and the US.
