In Los Angeles, a call for the end to the U.S. blockade of Cuba

Dozens of people participated in Los Angeles in an event of solidarity with Cuba that called for an end to the blockade imposed by successive U.S. governments on the Caribbean nation for more than 60 years.

Activist Carlos Lazo, the coordinator of the 'Bridges of Love' project, told Prensa Latina news agency that the meeting was also aimed at "raising funds for the Saving Lives initiative to take four anesthesia machines to the Carlos J. Finlay Hospital in Havana."

US policy towards Cuba is counterproductive, says congressman

Today´s US policy towards Cuba is "wrong, counterproductive and stupid," said Jim McGovern (D-Mass) at a Boston town council hearing.

In the meeting, focused on a US blockade resolution, McGovern asserted this economic, commercial and financial blockade disproportionately impacts the Cuban families.

McGovern, who has long visited Cuba, referred to measures that hinder to send family remittances to Cuba and hindrances to buying food and medicine, even amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nicolás Guillén receives homage from UNEAC and a United States delegation

In the year 1930 a friendship was born between the National Poet of Cuba Nicolás Guillén (1902-1989) and the American writer Langston Hughes (1902-1967) that has survived to this day.
