Poetry as a language between Cuba and the US

The New Yorker magazine, July 11-18, 2022 edition, in its poems section, publishes the one entitled "The Dead", by Nancy Morejón, National Prize for Literature laureate of Cuba, which was dedicated to the Hispanicist and translator Jacques Gilard. The translation is by Pamela Carmell.

The poem is part of the Bambula Funda anthology, published in Quito, Ecuador, in 2019, by the “El Ángel” publishing house.

Cuban documentary presented in the United States

The documentary "Women... Resilience and Rights to Life" by filmmakers Lissette Vila and Ingrid León was presented at the Colombian Embassy in Washington DC as part of the film festival organized by IberoamericanCulture DC.

The screening was a complete success and the audience was able to learn about the tradition of struggle and resilience of Cuban women. The representatives of the Embassy of Cuba in the US thanked the Embassy of Colombia for the kind welcome.

A Code consistent with the development of the family

In the twenty-fifth, and latest, draft version of the Family Code, 47.93% of the content was modified, including the transitory and final provisions; and new elements were incorporated, representing 2.06%, reported the Minister of Justice Oscar Silvera Martinez.

In a videoconference of the Drafting Commission of the Family Code with the deputies of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), the Minister highlighted the real impact the opinion of the people had in this consultation process, which he described as "transparent and effective".

New Haven demands end to US blockade against Cuba

The City Council of the US city of New Haven (Connecticut) on Tuesday approved a resolution calling on President Joe Biden and Congress to lift the blockade against Cuba and to normalize relations with the Caribbean island.

The document, presented by Councilmen Darryl Brackeen, Sarah Miller and Alex Guzhnay, demands that Washington eliminate restrictions on trade and travel between the two countries and work to resume full diplomatic and consular relations.
