Cuban ambassador to Saint Lucia, Alejandro Simancas Marin, has responded to allegations that the nation is using its medical missions programme as a form of human trafficking. The Ambassador explain to the Loop St. Lucia media "The United States does not have any legitimacy or any moral to question not only Cuba but any other country," the ambassador said. Cuban doctors were sent to several countries around the world to assist in the fight against the coronavirus. Saint Lucia was among these countries and received 113 medical personnel from Cuba.

Interferon ready for application in Saint Lucia and the OECS

The Director-General of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Dr. Didacus Jules, informed the media that a shipment of 9000 units of Interferon arrived in Saint Lucia which was signed on by the Organization. This medicine will be distributed for use in the fight against Covid-19 in Saint Lucia and other OECS member states. Interferon was developed in 1986 by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB).
