Letter from the General Secretary of the WFTU to the General Secretary of the Cuban Workers' Union on the 65th Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution

The international classist union movement expresses its full international solidarity with the Cuban Workers' Central, the workers and the people of Cuba, who inspire the workers with their example. Heroic Cuba has overcome all adversities, difficulties and attacks over the years and will continue to resist, continue to promote peace, fraternity and solidarity among the peoples and workers of the world.

Stavros Agathou, on behalf of the Central Council of EDON and its members issued a message to the Cuban people, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

That in spite of the murderous embargo and imperialist interventions continues to fight. At the same time he sent a greeting to the members of the UJC who are in the front line of the Cuban youth in struggle. He emphasized that as a divided island under occupation the Cypriot youth empathize with the victims of imperialism and taking as an example and inspiration the Cuban revolution, they can be optimistic that it can be defeated and expressed his solidarity with the Cuban people.

1 January 2024 marked the 65th anniversary of the historic revolutionary triumph in Cuba, led by the 26th of July movement and headed by the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz.

The Cuban people have made the policy of isolation and blockade fail for more than 63 years thanks to their heroic resistance, and even so they have consolidated historic achievements in health, education, social welfare, equality, research, international solidarity, access to sport and culture, among other aspects, recognised by the people and international organisations.
