Cuban ambassador participates in the 37th General Assembly of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber 2026

Nicosia, Cyprus, May 13, 2026. – The Ambassador of Cuba to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, participated this Wednesday in the 37th Annual General Assembly of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC), the most important event of the Cypriot maritime sector, held in Limassol, with the presence of the Board of Directors of the Chamber and businesspeople from the sector across the country.

The inauguration of the event was led by Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, and Annita Demetriou, President of the Cypriot Parliament, whose speeches highlighted the strategic and essential role that Cypriot shipping companies currently play and their impact on the country's economy, in addition to the efforts of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber in its commitment to actively support international efforts aimed at maintaining its excellence and prestige in the region and in achieving sustainable and realistic solutions for the future of global maritime transport.

Both authorities also expressed the local government's intention to continue maintaining Cyprus as an essential maritime reference point in the Eastern Mediterranean, in line with its timely geographical location in that area.

Cuba is present at the tribute for the Day of the Anti-Fascist Victory held at the Cyprus Second World War Memorial.

Nicosia, Cyprus, May 9. – The Ambassador of Cuba to the Republic of Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, paid tribute this Saturday to the victims of fascism, Nazism, and militarism, during the event organized by the Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL) at the World War II Memorial in this capital.

As every May 9, AKEL commemorates the anniversary of that great victory as a tribute to the tens of millions of people who were victims of fascism; this time, accompanied by the various organizations and political forces that make up the Cypriot left-wing popular movement, joined by diplomatic representatives from the State of Palestine, Russia, China, and Cuba.

The main speeches of the event were delivered by the Secretary General of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou, who paid tribute to the “tens of millions of people who fell defending democracy, defending the principles that humanity has forged over the centuries of progress, both on the battlefields and in the guerrillas created in occupied countries, in the detention centers and prisons imposed by fascism, victims of the hunger and hardships caused by fascism in countries occupied by Nazism and fascism.”

Nicosia, Cyprus, May 9. – This Saturday, May 8, the Virtual Forum for Cubans Living Abroad, part of #FITCuba2026, was held, in which 97 Cubans living in 16 countries participated, an event that also involved Cubans residing on the Mediterranean island. 

The Virtual Forum of #FITCuba2026 was presided over by Juan Carlos García Granda, Minister of Tourism of Cuba, and Ana Teresita González Fraga, Director General of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Residing Abroad of our Ministry; a space designed to update and exchange ideas, proposals, and initiatives for the contribution of Cubans abroad to the development of tourism in Cuba.

Cuban Ambassador Participates with Cypriot Foreign Ministry in Bid Farewell to Romanian Counterpart at the Conclusion of Mission

Nicosia, Cyprus, May 8, 2026 – After five years of fruitful service at the Romanian diplomatic mission in Nicosia, His Excellency Mr. Sorin-Dan Mihalache, Ambassador of Romania to Cyprus, received heartfelt recognition and respect from the local Foreign Ministry, along with a large group of colleagues accredited to the island, who came to bid him farewell.

Cuban Ambassador Present at Ceremony for the National Day of the Republic of Poland in Cyprus

Nicosia, Cyprus, May 7, 2026.- Invited by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Cyprus, His Excellency Mr. Marek Szczepanowski, the Cuban Ambassador in this capital, Rubén Pino Martínez, participated this Wednesday in the official reception offered by the European nation on the occasion of its National Day celebrated on May 3, marking the creation of the Constitution in 1891, today a symbol of sovereignty and national pride.

Through his counterpart in Cyprus, Pino Martínez extended his congratulations on the important anniversary, while also wishing every success in his duties as Ambassador to him as well as to his entire team in this capital. During this event, the Caribbean diplomat also expressed gratitude for the invitation and the courtesies shown to the attending Diplomatic Corps, on which occasion he greeted the members of the host diplomatic mission accredited in Nicosia.

Mr. Marek Szczepanowski, in brief summary, praised the excellent relations of his nation with Cyprus, after outlining the priorities and perspectives that today distinguish his nation's current ties with the island in the eastern Mediterranean.
