Cuba at the UN reaffirms its commitment to international peace and security

Ambassador Ernesto Soberón, permanent representative of Cuba to the UN, reaffirmed the unwavering commitment that his country has today to international peace and security. During the general debate of the substantive session of the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations (C-34), the ambassador highlighted the main responsibility of the UN in maintaining international peace and security and the need for these operations to be carried out in accordance with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter.

Cuba congratulates Lithuania on its National Holiday

"We congratulate the people and government of the Republic of #Lithuania on the occasion of its National Holiday". The information also highlights "We ratify our will to continue expanding relations between our nations".

Díaz-Canel signs Book of Condolences at the Namibian embassy

"With deep regret we received the sad news of the death of one of the best friends of the Cuban Revolution, HE Dr. Sam Nujoma", wrote Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, in the Book of Condolences opened at the Namibian embassy in Havana. The Presidency reported that the president expressed, on behalf of the Cuban Government and people, "the most heartfelt condolences for the physical loss of the founding father and first president of the sister Republic of Namibia, to his people and government, which we extend to his family and friends".

With deep regret, our people have learned of the death of our dear friend of Cuba, His Excellency Dr. Sam Nujoma, Founding Father and first President of the sister Republic of Namibia. He showed throughout his life a special affection for Cuba and support for the Cuban Revolution, from the stage in which he led the heroic Namibian people in the struggle for independence, and later, when he assumed the highest leadership of his nascent independent State, and also as an African leader, a symbol of firmness and defense of just causes. The Cuban Party, Government and people extend their most heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of the sister Republic of Namibia, and to family and friends. For this reason, Official Mourning is declared from 6:00 a.m. on February 10 until 12:00 midnight on February 11, 2025, and National Mourning on February 12, 2025, from 6:00 a.m. until 12 midnight.

Cuba participates in Tourism Fair in Latvia

Cuba participated in the Tourism Fair in Latvia, held in Riga between February 7-9, with a wide presence of tourism promoters from the Nordics and Baltics states. The Concellor of tourism for the Nordic countries, Eddy Santos, held several meetings in B2B and professional sessions. Cuba seeks to continue the rapprochement and joint actions with operators in the area to increase the tourist flow in the area.
