Cuba and Ghana assess the state of medical cooperation

The Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of Health of Ghana, Mr. Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, who was accompanied by the Head of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Ghana, Dr. Ana Lubín García.

At the meeting, they evaluated the current state and perspectives of the bilateral medical cooperation, both in healthcare and academic services.

On the Ghanaian side, the Head of the Ministry's Department of External Health Cooperation, Dr. Hafez Adam Taher, was also present.

Cubans currently abroad can return to the island with expired passports  

Havana, November 17, 2020.- The Cuban citizens residing in the national territory, who are abroad at the time of this announcement, will be allowed to return to Cuba, exceptionally, with their expired passports and without extension.

The measure considers the negative socioeconomic impact derived from the COVID-19 at the world level due to the closing of borders and flights' suspension.

The Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, offered an interview at the Cuban embassy in Accra, to the Nigerian Praise Uzosike and the Cuban resident in Ghana, Anamay Giraudy Simono, students of the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD) located in the University of Ghana. Both young women are in the final stage of their Master's studies in International Relations.

The Ambassador of Cuba Pedro Luis Despaigne González attended the inauguration ceremony of the restored headquarters of the Trade Union Congress Ghana (TUC). The event was chaired by the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, joined by the General Secretary of TUC, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah and the Ministers for Finance and Employment and Labor Relations.
