Pretoria, 15 July 2025. The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) issued a statement of solidarity with Cuba and its leaders in response to the new sanctions imposed by the Donald Trump administration against the Cuban president and other senior government and Communist Party officials.
Havana, 11 July 2025.- President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez received Solly Mapaila, General Secretary of the South African Communist Party, at the Palace of the Revolution. The close ties that unite Cuba and South Africa, fostered by historical leaders Fidel and Mandela, were highlighted, in which inter-party relations are a strength.
Pretoria, 8 July 2025. Embassy officials participated today in a historic meeting held at the University of South Africa (UNISA) to commemorate Cuba's international support in the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, considered one of the most significant battles in history since the fights in World War II.

The delegation from the South African Communist Party (SACP), led by its general secretary Solly Mapaila, visited the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), where they held a fraternal exchange with the president of ICAP and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Fernando González Llort.
