Solidarity Statement by the Zimbabwe Cuba Friendship Association – Gweru Chapter
Zimbabwe Cuba Friendship Association is in full support of and in solidarity of the Cuban revolution against US ideological subversion and neoliberal colour revolution attempt .We know that Washington is pouring millions of dollars to foment social unrest to topple the revolutionary leadership of Cuba.
It is common knowledge that Cuba like any other country in the world is reeling from the social and economic impact of Covid 19 including the USA.These counter revolutionary pockets of “resistance” are being sponsored by US imperialism. The Cuban economic situation cannot be analysed outside the 60 year genocidal economic embargo by the USA. Cuba’s economy is being deliberately being sabotaged left, right and centre .The bully tactics of the this imperialist beast are uncalled for and unjustified . Cuba is only a small country which is struggling to develop and prosper but it’s being perennially suffocated by US foreign policy . It’s a sovereign country which is charting its own socialist path.
In advancing a socialist economic path Cuba is providing quality healthcare for its people and exporting doctors and medical personnel to the world through its medical brigades. Cuba has low crime rate as compared to other western capitalist countries, it has non-existent infant mortality rate. Cuba has a strong and robust education system .Cuba provides its people with subsidies of food and money to survive in times of crisis. Cuba is a socialist country governed by Marxist – Leninist principles. Socialism is the only alternative to address social, economic and many problems which the world is facing. The illegal blockade and sanctions have resulted in extreme shortages of food, medicine, fuel and other necessities.
Cuba has produced five vaccines to join the global fight against the Covid 19 and we urge all African and third world countries to acquire these vaccines as a way to help Cuba to sustain and extricate its economy and it will be a gesture of solidarity and supporting Cuba for suffering in the service of socialism for the past 60 years. The Cuban main source of revenue is tourism which has been affected by Covid 19 pandemic.
