Cuba explores opportunities for cooperation in the city of Bangalore

The Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in India, Abel Aballe Despaigne, paid a working visit to the city of Bangalore, capital of the southern state of Karnataka. 

During his visit, the Cuban official was received by the Vice Chancellor of Jain University, Easwaran Iyer; Dr. B. S. Srinath of the Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation; and by the Vice President of the Animation, Visual Effects, Games and Comics Centre of Excellence (AVGC), Mr. Ganesh Papanna. 

Omara Portuondo performed for the first time in India.

Legendary Cuban singer Omara Portuondo, the Buena Vista Social Club Diva, performed for the first time in India. Portuondo, 92 years old, delighted the Indian audience with her latest album "Vida", on the venue of Windmills Whitefield, in the city of Bangalore.

The official Abel Aballe Despaigne, in his condition of Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Embassy in India, welcomed Omara on behalf of the diplomatic Mission, while highlighting the impact of her visit in the development of cultural ties between Cuba and India.

Cuba conveyed its condolences for the Odisha train accident.

The President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernández, conveyed a message of condolences to Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha (Lower House of the Indian Parliament), after the unfortunate train accident that occurred in the Indian state of Odisha.  

He deeply regretted the numerous loss of human lives and injuries caused by the train collision, and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families and relatives of the victims, as well as his wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured. 

Tribute to José Martí in India

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Cuban Embassy in India, Abel Aballe Despaigne, paid a simple tribute today to José Martí on the occasion of the 128th anniversary of his fall in combat, with a floral tribute at the bust of the Cuban National Hero located in the "José Martí" school in New Delhi. The Cuban diplomat also exchanged with the director of the school, Mahabir Singh Negi, as well as with teachers and students.

Cuban Ambassador exchanges with Prime Minister and authorities of the Government of Bhutan.

The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bhutan, Lotay Tshering, received this week at the government headquarters in Timbu the Cuban Ambassador, Alejandro Simancas Marin. During the cordial meeting, the Bhutanese Head of the Executive highlighted the good relations existing between the two countries and the historic moment of the visit to Havana of the former King of Bhutan, His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, and his meeting with Fidel Castro during the sixth NAM Summit in 1979.
