The popular Cuban singer Haila María Mompié visits Trinidad and Tobago for the first time.

Port of Spain, October 6, 2023. Haila María Mompié, known as “The Diva of Cuba” participated as a special guest at the launch in Trinidad and Tobago of the new “Centrogordos” vitola from the “Vegueros” brand of Habanos S.A. During her stay she offered interviews to the national newspaper "Trinidad and Tobago Guardian" and to the program "The morning show" of Trinidad and Tobago Television (TTT).

She also held meetings with important Trinidadian artists with a view to establishing future collaborations.

Haiti needs more and better international assistance and cooperation.

Haiti suffers from a serious humanitarian and security situation, which exacerbates social instability and poverty caused by centuries of colonial and neocolonial plunder, underdevelopment and foreign intervention.

The United Nations Security Council approved a resolution authorizing the deployment of a Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti, whose troops will be able to use force in their field of action.

Tribute paid in Trinidad and Tobago to the victims of crime in Barbados.

Port of Spain, October 6, 2023. 47 years after the terrorist attack against the Cubana de Aviación plane, which took 73 innocent lives, representatives of the people and governments of Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago gathered at the "Piarco" airport in the city of Port of Spain to place a wreath before the plaque in tribute to the victims of that violent action.

During the last months and weeks, the irregular migratory flow of Cuban citizens through the Central American corridor bound for the United States has experienced noticeable growth, which in turn increases the probability of the occurrence of regrettable events, such as the recent road accident in Mexican territory, in which several of our compatriots lost their lives, including a minor.

Distinguished Ministers:

I have the honor to deliver this statement on behalf of the Group of 77 and China.

Our planet is living through the most complex times of all. The post-pandemic world has become a more divided, unjust and unequal place, particularly as multidimensional crises, has a huge impact and affect particularly developing countries. The situation demands an innovative approach if we wish to protect the interests of current and future generations.
