Memories of Marti: book launched at UWI

IDEAS and works of the celebrated Cuban 'son of the soil' Jose Marti are reflected in the book Trinidad y Tobago/Cuba Historia, Lengua y Literatura.

The book is not only important because of the contents within, but also due to the possibilities it opens for future research to enhance and deepen our understanding and knowledge about Caribbean societies and their outstanding men and women.

Direct flight between Havana and Port of Spain is inaugurated.

Port of Spain – 13 January 2018 – With the presence of the Minister of Trade and Industry of Trinidad and Tobago, Paula Gopee Scoon, the Ambassador of Cuba, Guillermo Vazquez Moreno, and the executive board of the Airline Caribbean Airlines -  the Caribbean Airlines flight BW 456 that will link the capitals of Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago was inaugurated at the Piarco International Airport. The official ceremony counted with the presence of businessmen and the press who will cover the return of the Trinidadian airline to the largest Antilles as well as more than a hundred tourists who decided to witness this historic moment.

CAL makes triumphant first trip to Cuba

Caribbean Airlines landed at the Jose Marti airport in Cuba ten minutes ahead of schedule on Saturday morning as it made its first flight to the Spanish island.  

As the inaugural flight taxied down the runway to applause from its passengers, it received welcoming showers of water sprayed on either side of the plane.

Cuban activist calls on Caribbean people to unite

Paying tribute to Cuba’s legendary leader the late Fidel Castro, International Relations Officer of the Cuban Communist Party Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera has called on Caribbean people to unite.
Giving an insight on Castro’s life during a seminar hosted by the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union in San Fernando on Tuesday, Balaguer said people could not study the 20th century and the present millennium, without the thought and work of Castro.
