PM Dean Barrow meets with Cuba’s President

Belize, September 12, 2018. By BBN Staff: The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, accompanied by Cuba’s First Lady, Lis Cuesta, and Cuba’s Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parilla, met with Prime Minister Dean Barrow, his wife, Kim Simplis Barrow, and Ambassador of Belize H.E. Annie Burns, in a frank and friendly exchange on areas of common interest.

The group discussed challenges, achievements and cooperation between the two countries.

Second Cuba-Belize Medical Symposium held

The Second Cuba-Belize Medical Symposium was held today in commemoration of the 27thanniversary of the Cuba Medical Brigade in Belize. Ambassador of Cuba to Belize, Lissette Perez and Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Angel Campos spoke of the longstanding collaboration between both countries.

Cuba, Belize Doctors Meet

On Thursday at the Inspiration Center, healthcare professionals from across the public and private sectors participated in the second annual Cuba and Belize Medical Symposium.  Both countries share a unique partnership where health and medicine are concerned.  That interest continues to see Belizeans completing medical studies in Cuba, as well as the Cuban Medical Brigade sending its nurses and doctors to practice in Belize.  Doctor Alexander Garçon described the purpose of the daylong conference.

Today the Image Factory in Belize City hosted the fifth National Solidarity Encounter between Belize and Cuba. The audience was made up of people young and old from across the country that wanted show their respect and support for Cuba. We stopped by this morning and found out that it was more than just a solidarity declaration, it was also an art show honouring Cuba.
