Australian Cuba solidarity movement issues statement calling for Cuba's removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism

Canberra, 24 May 2024. The Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS) issued a statement demanding the removal of Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

The ACFS stated that "Cuba is a friend of the world, not only cooperating in the United States’ antiterrorism efforts, but those of nations everywhere".

Cuban ambassador participates in Mauritius National Day Reception

Canberra, 24 May 2024. The Ambassador of Cuba, Tanieris Diéguez, participated in the reception for the National Day of Mauritius.

The ambassador had the opportunity to share with her colleague the High Commissioner for Mauritius, Marie Claire Jeanne Monty.

Representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Canberra attended the reception.

Cuban Ambassador meets with Deputy Director General of the National Archives of Australia

Canberra, 24 May 2024. The Cuban Ambassador Tanieris Diéguez met with Caroline Webber, the Deputy Director General of the National Archives of Australia.

During the meeting they discussed the value of preserving historical documents.

They also exchanged on actions that could be developed to help preserve the documentary heritage of both countries.

Communist Party of Australia condemns immoral inclusion of Cuba on list of State Sponsors of Terrorism

Canberra, 23 May 2024. The Communist Party of Australia (CPA) issued a statement condemning the immoral listing of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism.

The CPA stated that it condemns "in the strongest possible terms Washington's latest campaign of hypocrisy and contradictory misinformation".

It also reiterated its support and solidarity with the Cuban people and government, especially at this time when the blockade is hitting Cuban families the hardest.

Cuba participates in Latin American day sponsored by WIC

Canberra, May 22, 2024. The Embassy of Cuba in Australia participated in the Latin American session sponsored by the Women International Club of Canberra. During the event, elements of the best Cuban traditions were exhibited, as well as a Cuban cocktail workshop, as an expression of our culture. There was also a workshop on traditional Cuban rhythms where dances such as the cha cha chá, pilón, mozambique, son and rumba were performed, culminating with the singing of the Guantanamera.
