The Cuban Ambassador to Canada Héctor Igarza Cabrera was received by Lisa Thompson, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, at her office in Toronto. Tara Barry, Chief of Staff to the Minister and Lindsay Smith, Senior Policy Advisor, participated in the exchange on the Canadian side, while Jorge Yanier Castellanos, Consul General in Toronto, participated on the Cuban side.
During this first meeting, issues of mutual interest to both parties were discussed, and links for further work in this sector were established.
EMBASSY OF CUBA IN CANADA
As part of an initiative of the Montreal Centre for International Studies, in collaboration with the School of Languages of the University of Quebec in Montreal, an event titled "Women, Languages and Diplomatic Careers" was held today.
Susana Malmierca and Luz Stella Jara, consuls general of Cuba and Colombia, respectively, participated as special guests and speakers.
The Cuban Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García Granda, completed an intense working visit to Toronto that included meetings with travel agencies, journalists and members of the consulate. In all the meetings, the interest in boosting the Cuban tourist market and the commitment to expand its quality and diversity prevailed.
The Consul General of Cuba in Toronto, Jorge Yanier Castellanos, participated along with his accredited Latin American counterparts in the inauguration of the School4Civic program 2023, sponsored by the Hispanic Canadian Heritage Council (HCHC).
The Federal Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, Karina Gould, and the former Deputy Mayor of Toronto, Ana Bailao, met with social leaders, artists and professionals from various fields. Consul Tania Valenzuela also participated representing Cuba.
