First Deputy Minister Marcelino Medina González of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in Canada this week leading a Cuban delegation to attend the annual political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Cuba and Global Affairs Canada. The First Minister's visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Cuba.
Marcelino Medina González, a career diplomat, was appointed First Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba in 2009.
The University of Havana and Carleton University in Canada sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
Ottawa, February 5, 2020 - The University of Havana and Carleton University in Ottawa signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the Canadian capital that will allow to expand the collaborative relations between the two centres of higher education.
Previously signed by the rector of the University of Havana, Miriam Nicado, the Memorandum was signed this Wednesday by the president of Carleton University, Benoit-Antoine Bacon, and by the Cuban ambassador to Canada, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro.

On March 16, Cuba and Canada will celebrate the 75th anniversary of uninterrupted diplomatic relations, which have stood the proof of time since they were established in 1945.
Diplomatic and commercial ties have grown stronger, but most importantly, the friendship between both peoples has been nurtured and strengthened.
