Tribute to the figure of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the second year of his departure
Toronto, November 25th, 2018.- Yesterday afternoon, members of the Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto, the Association of CubanResidents in this city "Juan Gualberto Gómez", as well as members of the solidarity group with Cuba, paid tribute to the figure of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the second year of his departure.
As part of the program, the renowned Cuban pianist based in Toronto Hilario Duran, delighted the audience with pieces of the Cuban pentagram. Gladys García, widow of Chilean friend Juan Carlos García, was also part of this tribute, declaiming "Homage to Fidel", a poem that her husband wrote after the death of the Commander in Chief.
Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Wraps Up Official Portion of his Visit in Ottawa, Heads to Montreal
Ottawa, November 21, 2018.- Mr. Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment successfully concluded the official portion of his visit to Ottawa and traveled to Montreal to complete an extensive agenda.
At midday on Wednesday, Minister Malmierca met with his Canadian counterpart, the Hon. James Carr, Minister of International Trade Diversification. It was a cordial and fruitful meeting, during which both ministers highlighted the long-standing bilateral relations and underlined the significance of the economic and commercial ties, which have traditionally existed between the two countries.
Minister Malmierca explained the crucial role that foreign direct investment plays in the Cuban economy and its impact on building new trade flows.
Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Kicks off official agenda in Ottawa
Ottawa, November 20, 2018.- Mr. Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment of Cuba, began on Tuesday an intense official program in Canada´s capital.
In the morning, Minister Malmierca met with the Hon. Francois-Phillipe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, to discuss the existing potentials for Canada to expand its participation in the development of this sector in Cuba. Afterwards, Minister Malmierca and the Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental and Northern Affairs and Internal Trade, held a productive meeting in which they addressed issues of mutual interest at the bilateral level.
On Tuesday afternoon, after paying a courtesy call to the Speaker of the House of Commons, Hon. Geoff Regan, Minister Malmierca was received at Global Affairs Canada by the Hon. Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development.
Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Begins Visit to Canada
Ottawa, November 18, 2018. On Sunday Nov. 18 Cuba´s Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Mr. Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, embarked on a five-day working visit to Canada. During his stay, he will carry out an extensive visit agenda, which includes meetings with Canadian officials and members of the business sector in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.
