Cuban Ambassador Presents Letters of Credence to the Republic of the Philippines

Manila, May 15, 2025. In a solemn ceremony held at Malacañang Palace, Cuban Ambassador Yadira Ledesma Hernández presented to the President, His Excellency Mr. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., the Letters of Credence accrediting her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of the Philippines.

Following the official ceremony of the presentation of the Letters of Credence, attended by the Secretary for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr. Enrique A. Manalo, a wreath was laid to the Philippine national hero, José Rizal.

Manila, May 15, 2025. Cuban Ambassador Yadira Ledesma Hernández was received by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency Mr. Enrique A. Manalo, on the occasion of her visit to the country.

The two representatives held a fruitful exchange on strengthening bilateral relations.

They also discussed potential areas for exploring cooperation between the Philippines and Cuba in agriculture, health, and education, among others.

Kuala Lumpur, May 14, 2025. The Cuban Consulate participated in the celebration of Spanish Language Day, held jointly by the Spanish-speaking diplomatic missions accredited to Malaysia.

The event was an opportunity to showcase Cuban culture. On this occasion, the work of Dulce María Loynaz, Cuban writer and poet, winner of the Miguel de Cervantes Prize in 1992, was discussed.

Kuala Lumpur, May 13, 2025. Cuban Ambassador Yadira Ledesma Hernández held a fruitful meeting with Mr. Azril Abd Aziz, Deputy Director-General of the ASEAN Political and Security Community of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry.

Malaysia holds the 2025 Chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and Cuba was the first Caribbean country to join the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), following the unanimous acceptance of all its member countries.

Cuba presents advances in its anti-drug policy.

Warsaw, 7 May, 2025

Cuba presented the progress achieved in the implementation of its anti-drug policy during the Annual Meeting of the Cooperation Programme on Drugs between Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union (COPOLAD), which took place in Warsaw, Poland, on 6 and 7 May. The meeting brought together national drug authorities from both regions in the continuation of a bi-regional dialogue focused on a common strategy to confront this scourge.

The occasion was useful to update Cuba's friends in the Philippines on national events on the Caribbean island, with whom they have maintained for 25 years a beautiful work of solidarity and historical-cultural exchange, promoting relations between the two nations.
