Ottawa, January 30, 2018- On January 29, the Embassy of Cuba in Ottawa hosted a Reception to commemorate the 59th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution and bid farewell to Ambassador Julio Garmendía Peña and his wife, Miraly González, who will be returning to Cuba after a successful term in office for almost five years.

Thousands of Finns and visitors from different continents, along with exhibitors from 83 countries and travel agents from all over the world had the opportunity to approach the many benefits that Cuba offers as a travel destination during the tourism international fair MATKA 2018, the largest event in this sector in northern Europe, which took place between January 18th and January 21st in this capital.
The Ambassador, Vilma Reyes Valdespino, received Annette Mark and Nadine Agard-Juillerat, Director and Deputy Executive Director, respectively, of the Vincentian Investment Agency, "Invest SVG", at the Cuban Mission headquarters
The entity, immersed in a process of refining its work and expanding its links with the outside world, considers Cuba as a point of reference in terms of attraction, legal protection and investment promotion, and in this sense wishes to expand the coordination and cooperation with its counterpart in the largest island of the Antilles.

The President of the Republic of Estonia, Her Excellency Mrs. Kersti Kaljulaid, received on January 9th, in a solemn audience held at the Presidential Palace in Tallinn, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Eduardo Lazo Pérez, who presented the Credentials that accredit him in those functions.
During the meeting, both interlocutors agreed on the importance they attach to the expansion of ties and political dialogue, both bilaterally and between the European Union and Cuba.
Toronto, January 08th, 2018.- Despite the low temperatures, last Saturday, the 59th anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution was celebrated in this city, at the headquarters of "Casa Maíz", where friends came to express its warmest admiration for the Caribbean island. The event was organized by solidarity associations with Cuba, among them Víctor Jara Cultural Group, Association of Cubans living in Toronto "Juan Gualberto Gómez", Toronto-Canada Friendship Association of Toronto, Friends of Cuba against the US Blockade and the Latin American and Caribbean Solidarity Network (FOCUSB and LACSN, for its acronym in English).

The Cuban method of literacy for adults, "Yes I Can", continues to be applied successfully in the aboriginal communities of New South Wales, under the leadership of the Literacy for Life Foundation, its president Jack Beetsony and the advice of the Cuban specialists, Lucy Núñez and Félix Hernández.
