Cuba to address social and economic development for lasting peace.

Cuba today advocated for a sustained and lasting peace by eradicating the root causes of conflicts, particularly the problems of social and economic development affecting the countries of the South.

During the open debate convened by the Security Council on the promotion of sustained peace through common development, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gerardo Peñalver, said that this is a consequence of the current unjust international order.

The contribution to sustainable development and peace from the fields of competence of Unesco is an expectation of Cuba at the 42nd General Conference of the organization, said today the Minister of Education, Naima Ariatne Trujillo.

In statements to Prensa Latina shortly after the opening of the forum in this capital, which will be held until November 22, the head of the Cuban delegation said that during the event the Antillean nation will share its experiences in education, science, culture and communication.

The group of the Cuban diplomatic mission, a representation of Cuban residents, the Cuban Medical Brigade (BMC), the Solidarity Association “Trinidad and Tobago, Friends of Cuba” and the accredited diplomatic corps were present at the activity.
