Foreign investment, an essential contribution to Cuba's development

Havana, Sep 17 (Prensa Latina) The incentive to direct foreign investment is an essential aspect in Cuba's socioeconomic strategy for development, amid the global crisis and the United States blockade.

A document published recently in Cuba refers to the key sectors where foreign capital is most needed.  One of them is food production, where the Cuban Government seeks to speed up the management, implementation and execution of investment to increase production of chicken, pork, cattle, and the agri-industry of fruits and vegetables.

On September 11, 1983, Cuban diplomat Felix Garcia, an official of the Cuban mission to the UN, was assassinated. Four pistol shots took his life when he stopped in front of a red light. He had come from commemorating, together with Chilean comrades, the resistance of President Salvador Allende to the coup d'état perpetrated 7 years before. Felix was a victim of the counter-revolutionary action of the terrorist group Omega 7, based in Florida.
