Monrovia, July 11, 2024. - Liberia joined countries around the world in celebrating World Population Day. The Government of Liberia, in partnership with the United Nations agencies in Liberia, held the World Population Day ceremony at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo's oldest city.
Cuba was represented at the event by Chief of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera.

Cuba condemned, in the strongest terms, the violent raid by the Ecuadorian police on the diplomatic headquarters of Mexico in Quito on April 5, considering it a flagrant violation of International Law, in particular the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the right to asylum and the sovereignty of that nation.

Martinez Herrera participated in the celebration of International Women's Day under the theme "Investing in Women, Accelerating Progress".
The event provided an opportunity to reflect on progress, advocate for change and recognize exceptional women who have made significant contributions to their communities and nations.
United Nations, November 2, 2023 - The resolution presented by Cuba to call for an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States was approved today by the General Assembly with 187 votes in favor.
The text, supported for the 31st time, received two votes against (United States and Israel) and one Member State abstained (Ukraine).
The resolution recognizes the siege as the central element of U.S. policy toward Cuba for more than six decades.
Convened by Cuba, as Chairman of the Group of 77 and China, the Summit of Heads of State and Government will be held in Havana on September 15 and 16 to discuss the theme "Current Development Challenges: The Role of Science, Technology and Innovation".
In 1964, Third World countries decided to join together to promote common positions in the world economy. Since then, pressing problems were identified for the underdeveloped nations that demanded, as they still do, the right to economic and social development.
Cuba counters human trafficking operations aimed for military recruitment purposes.
The Ministry of the Interior has detected and it is working to neutralize and dismantle a human trafficking network that operates from Russia in order to incorporate Cuban citizens living there and even some living in Cuba, into the military forces that participate in military operations in Ukraine. Attempts of this nature have been neutralized and criminal proceedings have been initiated against those involved in these activities.
Havana, August 21, 2023 - In the context of the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks, new health professionals from the Island and sister nations, graduates from different faculties of the University of Medical Sciences of Havana attended their graduation ceremony held at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater of Cuba.
