Women Ambassadors residing in Finland recognize the Cuban representative

The group of women ambassadors accredited in Helsinki offered a cordial farewell to the Cuban Head of Mission, Ms. Beatriz Parra González, who is about to conclude her diplomatic mission in this Nordic capital. At the meeting organized by the Swiss Embassy in Finland, Ambassador HE Ms. Sabrina Dallafior, spoke about the role of the Cuban representative and her performance within the Diplomatic Corps during her three years in Finland.

Catholic Bishop of Helsinki is received at the Cuban Embassy

On the afternoon of this Friday, the Cuban Embassy in Finland had the pleasure of receiving the Bishop of the Diocese of Helsinki of the Catholic Church, HE Raimo Goyarrola. During the exchange, Ambassador Beatriz Parra González and Consul Adalberto Ávila Parra conveyed the best wishes for the prompt recovery of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, from his recent illness, expressed from Cuba by President Miguel Díaz-Canel. The exchange also highlighted the excellent relations between Cuba and the Holy See, reflected in the visits of the last three Supreme Pontiffs, John Paul II (1998), Benedict XVI (2012) and Pope Francis (2015).

Grulac distinguished Cuba for its work in Finland

A nice meeting, organized by the Ambassador of Uruguay in Finland, HE. Mrs. Alejandra Bellis, was held at the beginning of the farewell activities of her Cuban counterpart, Beatriz Parra González. The ambassadors of the Latin American and Caribbean Group (Grulac) residing in Helsinki, also present in this space, gave the Caribbean diplomat a souvenir on behalf of the group that she has coordinated in the last year. In her words, the Uruguayan representative highlighted the work of Cuba as coordinator of Grulac in the promotion and visibility of the Latin American and Caribbean region in Finland.

Cubans living in Europe call Trump's decision unfair

Cubans living in Europe who are part of the Juntos X Cuba platform condemned this Thursday the decision of the American president, Donald Trump, to reinclude the island in the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism, which they described as unfair. In a statement, they described as arbitrary and unfounded the measure adopted by Trump on his first day in the White House, just a week after his predecessor, Joseph Biden, announced the withdrawal of Cuba from a mechanism that, although it lacks international protection, represents a severe impact in the economic and financial spheres.

Cuba Declares Official Mourning on January 20

The Official Mourning established as a tribute to the 13 brave and selfless soldiers who died in the Military Region of Holguín, will extend from 06:00 hours until 12:00 at night, on January 20, 2025. This Monday, at nine in the morning, in the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Calixto García, in the province of Holguín, the posthumous tribute ceremony for the combatants will take place. From Finland, our support in these hours of pain, and our condolences to the family and friends. Eternal glory to the young combatants!

In the spirit of the Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025, the Cuban Government releases persons who are serving prison sentences.

During the early days of January, President Díaz-Canel addressed a letter to the Supreme Pontiff in which, in the spirit of the Ordinary Jubilee of the year 2025 declared by His Holiness, which has just begun, he informed Pope Francis of the decision to concede to the release of 553 persons who had been convicted, in accordance with the due process, for several crimes that are punishable by  law. Deliberations are in progress on the basis of a thorough analysis, taking into account the different modalities established by law and as part of the just and humanitarian nature of the Cuban penal and penitentiary systems.  These persons will gradually receive their respective benefits.

Head of Europe Unit at Cuban MFA dialogues with Finnish authorities in Havana

The Director of Europe and Canada of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, HE Mrs. Iliana Núñez Mordoche, dialogued with the Deputy Director of the Latin American and Caribbean Unit of the Foreign Ministry Finland, HE Mr. Mikael Langstrom and with Ambassador of that country in Cuba, HE Mr. Ari Maki. During the meeting, both parts addressed issues of common interest to develop the bilateral agenda. Ambassador Maki presented this Tuesday his credentials in Havana to the First Vice President, Salvador Valdés Mesa, accompanied by the Deputy Director of Finlands MFA, HE Mr. Mikael Langstrom, and has had an intense agenda in Havana, which included other meetings with Cuban MFA authorities.

Statement by Minrex: "Enforcement of the U.S. blockade in Argentina forces Cubana de Aviación to suspend flights"

In March 2024, the company Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales S.A. (YPF) of the Republic of Argentina informed the airline Cubana de Aviación of its refusal to continue supplying fuel to its aircrafts, in application of the United States blockade against Cuba. As a result, Cubana de Aviación has been forced to suspend regular flights between Cuba and Argentina, which had been maintained for 39 years.

Cuba and Finland called to strengthen bilateral ties

The Cuban government ratified the will to continue strengthening cooperation and friendship ties with Finland, on the occasion of today's 95th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, an official source published. In its profile on X, the Cuban Foreign Ministry highlighted the fact that this is a long-standing relationship, based on mutual respect, bilateral cooperation and constant inter-chancellery rapprochement. On several occasions, the Finland-Cuba Friendship Association has denounced, in international organizations, the repercussions of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade of the United States against the island.

This Sunday Cuban ambassador Beatriz Parra González had a nice exchange with the new members of the board of the Finland-Cuba Friendship Association. It was an interesting opportunity to know the goals of Suomi-Kuuba-seura for this year that, despite the economic difficulties that the cuts have imposed on the Association, will continue his important job guided by its love for Cuba. Parra shared information about current national events in Cuba and the extraordinary impact that the blockade has had on the daily life of the people, and took the opportunity to thank the association for its historic support and denunciation against the blockade, as well as its solidarity work that reach out every year in the province of Las Tunas, particularly in the pediatric hospital.
