Indian film festival inaugurated with Cuba as focus country

With the premier of Indian and Pakistani films Toba Tek Singh and Chotay Shah, opened in this capital the seventh edition of the film festival Jagran, which has Cuba as focus country.

The Cuban ambassador, Oscar Martinez, speaking at the opening of the exhibition at a ceremony held at the Siri Fort Auditorium, told about the characteristics of cinema of his country and its approach to present the reality of the island.

Cuban ambassador explores business with Indian machinery firm

New Delhi, June 27: Cuba's ambassador to India, Oscar Martinez, visited the tractor factory company Escorts, near this capital, in order to explore business opportunities.

During his tour for the factory, located in the city of Faridabad, in the neighboring state of Haryana, the diplomat explained the benefits of business and investment opportunities on the island to the company agents.  Among them he cited the Mariel Special Development Zone, located in the east of Havana, and the new foreign investment law.

Major Indian press reports the presence of Cuba as the Focus Country of the 7th coming Jagran Film Festival in India.

India May 20, 2016. 21 of the most important organs of the press in India have reported  until today the presence of Cuba as the  Focus Country  in the upcoming 7th Jagran Film Festival to be held in 14 cities of India from 1st July to September 26 this year.

Secretary (East) of External Affairs of India received the Cuban Ambassador.

INDIA, May 19, 2016.- The Secretary (East) of  External Affairs .H.E.  Ms. Preeti Saran received on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of External Affairs to H.E. Mr. Oscar Martinez Cordovés, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in India.

During the meeting both sides reviewed the positive bilateral ties and the possibilities for strengthening them in the tourism sector, health, pharmaceuticals, etc., working together with the full support of India to advance these objectives.

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee at New Zealand Parliament favours greater links with Cuba

Wellington, May 10th, 2016.-The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee at New Zealand Parliament, Mark Mitchell, expressed his interest in Cuba and his willingness to boost ties between the two countries. During a meeting held at Parliament House with the Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, New Zealand politician also express his favourable approach in promoting an exchange with the members of the Committee he leads, in order to learn about the current status of the Caribbean island and examine opportunities for the development of bilateral relations.

The Minister of State for External Affairs of India received the Ambassador of Cuba

India, May 3th, 2016. The Minister of State for External Affairs of India General (Retdo.) V. K. Singh, welcomed the Ambassador of Cuba Oscar Martinez Cordovés in his office,  at the Ministry of External Affairs headquarters.

During the cordial meeting the parties discussed issues of the bilateral agenda and international relations, highlighting the traditional ties that have been developed between the two countries for 56 years.

Leaders of Trade Unions and Indian Communist Parties will participate in May Day in Cuba.

Cuban Foreign Ministry condemns parliamentary coup in Brazil

Sectors of the right wing representing the oligarchy, in alliance with the reactionary press in Brazil, openly supported by the corporate media and imperialism, have consummated in the country’s House of Deputies the first step in what constitutes a parliamentary coup d’etat against the legitimate government of the Workers’ Party (PT) and President Dilma Rousseff, which has been in the works for several months.
