76 UNGA: Statement by the Cuban delegation at the Third Committee General Debate. New York, 1 October 2021

Mr. Chair,

The impact of COVID-19 has been catastrophic. More than 4.5 million lives have been lost, and many more are yet to be lost. The virus kills, as does the lack of solidarity, the unilateral coercive measures and the selfishness imposed by the unjust international order.

Speech by Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta at the High-Level Meeting of the UN General Assembly to commemorate and promote the International Day against Nuclear Tests. New York, 8 September 2021.

Mr. President,

We align ourselves with the statement pronounced by Mexico on behalf of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

The importance of holding this high-level meeting is reinforced in light of the continuous modernization and expansion of nuclear arsenals, in a context in which the millions of dollars of resources devoted to this field must be redirected to efforts to address the current global crisis, exacerbated by COVID-19 and affecting every sphere of life.

I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to Ms. Fore for her service over the years at the helm of UNICEF in improving the lives of children around the world. I extend to her our best wishes.

75 UNGA: Statement by Ana Teresita González Fraga, First Deputy Minister of foreign trade and investment of Cuba, at the Un High-Level Meeting on middle-income countries. New York, 2 July 2021.

Six years after the adoption of the 2030 Agenda, there is still a deep gap between the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals and international commitments to support their implementation.

In a complex global political, social and economic context, exacerbated by the aftermath of COVID-19, access to external financing, special and differential treatment in trade matters and international cooperation are crucial for middle-income countries.
