Mr. Chairman,

On behalf of the Cuban delegation, we welcome His Excellency, Mr. Santiago Cafiero, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic to the Decolonization Committee, as well as the delegation accompanying him this time.

76 UNGA: Statement by Cuba in Plenary meeting on agenda item 134 “Responsibility to protect and the prevention of genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity”. New York, 23 June 2022

Mr. President,

The Cuban delegation would like to thank you for your good offices in the holding of this plenary meeting.

Cuba considers that it is a mistake to speak of Responsibility to Protect as a principle, since it does not constitute a foundation or an axiom of International Law. This so-called "responsibility" is just a notion, whose scope, rules of application and evaluation mechanisms are still far from being defined and agreed upon by Member States.

76 UNGA: Statement by the Cuban delegation at the general debate of the 15th Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. New York, 15 June 2022.

Mr. Chairman;

The COVID-19 pandemic has seriously impacted on economic and social development. Within this challenging context, the vulnerability of persons with disabilities heightens, and therefore our commitment to their protection should be enhanced.

76 UNGA: Statement by Ambassador Pedro L. Pedroso Cuesta, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the UN, at the quarterly open debate of the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question. New York, 25 April 2022

Madam President;

We endorse the statement delivered by Azerbaijan on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement and Senegal, in its capacity as Chairman of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.

With indignation we receive, day after day, the news confirming the toughening of Israel's annexation policies on the Occupied Palestinian Territories and the continual increase of its illegal colonizing practices.
