Mr. President,

We endorse the statement delivered by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement.

We share the concern reflected in the most recent report of the Secretary-General on the protection of civilians in armed conflict (S/2019/373), which states that civilians continue to account for the vast majority of victims in conflict situations, targets of indiscriminate attacks and other violations.

Madame Chair,

We thank the Under-Secretary-General for Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance for her presentation on the financial situation of the Organization and the subsequent update. We further extend our appreciation to Mr. Lionelito Berridge and the Department of Financial Reports and Contributions for the continued support they provide to Member States.

My delegation aligns itself to the statement made by the State of Palestine on behalf of the Group of 77 and China.

Mr. Chairman,

We endorse the statement by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The Cuban delegation regrets that since the last open debate on this issue there has been no progress in favor of the just cause of the Palestinian people. On the contrary, a dangerous aggravation of the deterioration of the situation on the ground has been perceived in the last quarter.

Mr. Chairman,

Allow me in the first place to extend our appreciation to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, for his election as Chairman of the Committee. Our delegation wishes him and the rest of the distinguished elected members of the Bureau success in performing their responsibilities, and we offer them our full support. We also thank the Austrian Ambassador Jan Kickert, and his team for their fruitful work at the head of the Committee on Information last year.

Madam President,

Cuba associates itself with the statement made by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace cannot be taken as a mere celebration, but as a reaffirmation of our duty and collective responsibility to preserve peace. As we approach the commemoration of the 74th anniversary of the United Nations Organization, Cuba as a founding member ratifies its commitment to the defense and promotion of multilateralism.

Mr. President,

The delegation of Cuba endorses the statement delivered by the delegation of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Our country, in defending its independence and sovereignty, has suffered the consequences of appalling terrorist acts, organized, financed and carried out from abroad, resulting in the loss of 3,478 lives and 2,099 disabled persons. Most of these acts have been organized, financed or allowed by the United States Government and committed by people under its control and protection.
