Cuba in Ethiopia

The African Union adopts a resolution rejecting the blockade imposed by the United States against our country and requests the removal of Cuba from the unilateral list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism

Addis Ababa, 19 February 2024.  For the fifteenth consecutive time, the 37th Assembly of the African Union, composed of African Heads of State and Government, adopted a resolution condemning the continued illegal economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed on the Republic of Cuba by the United States of America. On this occasion, the African Union is also calling for the removal of Cuba from the unilateral list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

Cuban ambassadors sign book of condolences at the Namibian Embassy

Addis Ababa, 6 February 2024. The ambassadors of Cuba to Ethiopia and to the African Union, Jorge Lefebre and Lourdes Marrero, respectively, went to the Embassy of Namibia in Addis Ababa to sign the book of condolences for the death of the President of Namibia, Dr. Hage G. Geingob, a dear friend of the Cuban people. 

Vice President of Cuba talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, January 27, 2024. On a transit stopover through Ethiopia, after concluding a visit to several African countries, the Vice President of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, spoke with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen. During the meeting, they reviewed several issues on the bilateral agenda and their development prospects.
