Cuba for ending Occupied Palestian Territories

United Nations, (Prensa Latina) Cuba demanded today to UN Security Council the adoption of necessary decisions to cease Israeli occupation and other crimes against Palestians.

´As an international community, we owe a debt to Palestian people. It is time to break the silence and immobilism, which have led it to suffer unworthy humiliations. It is time to do away with the impunity of Israeli criminal actions against Palestine´, said Ambassador Humberto Rivero during a session of the Council.

Cuban Swine Fever Vaccine Will Shortly Be Marketed

Cuban scientists are completing the clinical trials to launch into market a new vaccine for the control of classical swine fever (CSF), a disease that has been severely affecting pig breeding in the island.

Developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in the eastern province of Camagüey, Porvac, commercial name of the vaccine, will have an effectiveness above 90 percent in the control and eradication of CSF, researchers said.

Latin America reacts to end of “wet-foot/dry-foot” policy

Governments of countries affected by the irregular emigration of Cubans to the United States reacted positively to the agreement reached between the two countries, which aims to ensure regular, safe and orderly migration of Cuban citizens, and includes the elimination of the parole program for Cuban medical professionals and “wet-foot/dry-foot” policy, first implemented by the Clinton administration in 1995, and maintained for over 20 years by successive U.S. governments.

U.S. imposes more fines to enforce the blockade

On January 12 and 13, 2017, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed fines on the nonprofit organization Alliance for Responsible Cuba Policy (ARCP) and the Canadian bank Toronto Dominion (TD), for $10,000 and $955,750, respectively, for alleged violations of blockade regulations.
