Statement by the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in the "Nelson Mandela Peace Summit”

Mrs. President:

We are so happy and take comfort in the fact that the United Nations General Assembly is convening a peace summit, and that such summit has been named after Nelson Mandela.

Less than 30 years ago, beloved Madiba was a political prisoner in the apartheid jails, serving a life sentence as a result of his noble struggle for justice and equality among all men and women in South Africa, where a white minority was subjecting the black majority to the scorn of segregation.

Celebrates the Embassy of Cuba in Nigeria on African Day

NIGERIA, May 28, 2018. Last Friday, the collective of the Cuban Embassy in Abuja held a cocktail to celebrate Africa Day. Together with federal government officials, diplomats from Africa, friends and journalists, the 55th anniversary of African unity was commemorated.

NIGERIA, May 7, 2018. The Cuban Ambassador Carlos Trejo Sosa, gave a press interview to television Nigerian Television Authority (NTA, for its acronym in English).
The exchange allowed moving targets messages about Cuba and its reality and denounce the permanence of the economic embargo and financial embargo imposed by the United States against the Cuban people, illegal occupation of the territory of the Guantanamo Naval Base, changing Cuban government through the general elections, as well as the legacy of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro.
