ETHIOPIAN MINISTER OF WATER RECEIVED THE CUBAN AMBASSADOR

Addis Abeba, 8 February, 2018. The Minister of Water, Irrigation and Electricity of the Federak Democratic Republic of Ethiopia H.E. Eng. Seleshi  Bekele,  received the Cuban Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Vilma Thomas.

The meeting served to exchange on the possibilities of establishing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in this field.  Both countries signed an Memorando of Understanding in July 2014.

Cuba wins gold medal in qualifying triathlon in Barbados for the Central American Games.

The Cuban triathlon athlete, Daniela Ciara, won the Gold Medal in the competition of that modality held in Barbados on February 18, which gave her the classification for the next Central American Games to be held next summer in Barranquilla, Colombia. According to his coach, Aurelio Romero Santana, with that result the goal set for the event was obtained. In the same competition, in which the Pan American Cup was also disputed, the Antillean athlete obtained the sixth place in the general classification.

Cuba and the United States hold technical exchange on trafficking in persons and child sexual abuse

On February 14, 2018, a first technical exchange was held in Washington D.C. between authorities from Cuba and the United States charged with the prevention and combat against trafficking in persons and child sexual abuse. This exchange falls within the context of the law enforcement dialogue between both countries. 

During the meeting, both parties talked about the experiences gained in the prevention and combat against these crimes, the common challenges they face, and the actions of cooperation that need to be coordinated between the relevant authorities of both countries.

Ambassador of Cuba corroborated the acceptance of Cuban charcoal in Lebanese market

 

The Ambassador of Cuba, Miguel Porto Parga, on a tour in Chtoura, a town in the Bekaa Governorate, visited the "El Cubano" store, which specializes in the sale of marabou charcoal imported from the Cuba. The businessman Ali El Bast, owner of the establishment, explained to the Cuban diplomat the high demand that the Cuban product has among the restaurants in the area, mainly because of its aroma and durability.

The Ambassador of Cuba in Zimbabwe, Carmelina Ramirez, made a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Major General Dr. Gerald Gwinji, with whom he discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation between Cuba and Zimbabwe.

Mercedes López Acea, the Vice-President of the State Council of the Republic of Cuba, and her delegation were officially welcomed to Seychelles yesterday afternoon.

Vice-President Vincent Meriton, Designated Minister Macsuzy Mondon, the secretary of state in the Department of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Barry Faure, Cuban ambassador to Seychelles Juan Humberto Macias Pino along with other key government officials and Cuban personnel based here were at the Seychelles International Airport to welcome VP Acea.
