Addis Ababa,  The Ethio.-Cubans signed a message to the Cuban People expressing their opposition to the U.S. blockade on Cuba.  At the same time, they acknowledged the contribution of Cuba to the welfare of Ethiopia, particularly to the former Ethiopian students.

Addis Ababa, October 20.  The Day of the National Culture was celebrated at the Embassy of Cuba in Ethiopia.

The diplomats, cooperants, Cubans residing in Ethiopia and other friends sang the National Anthem of Cuba followed by the address of Ambassador Vilma Thomas and the Décimas written by Alberto Velázquez.

Cuban cuisine, drinks and good music were part of the event.

Addis Ababa, October 14, 2018.  The President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E. Mr. Mulatu Teshome, hosted a gala dinner in honour of the Cuban delegation to the 40th anniversary of the jointly victory in the Ogaden and of the beginning of the educational programs for Ethiopians in Cuba.

Addis Ababa.  The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mr. Kwesi Quartey and his wife Audrey hosted the Cuban delegation to the 40th anniversary.  High AUC official and friends from different countries enjoyed the evening with Cuban and Ghanaian food and music.  

Addis Ababa.  The Cuban Ambassador to Ethiopia, H.E. Mrs. Vilma Thomas hosted the Cuban delegation to the 40th anniversary, Ethio-Cubans as well as government authorities for a luncheon,

Addis Ababa.  The Cuban delegation to the 40th anniversary visited the Africa Hall in the UN compound in the capital of Ethiopia.

Mr. Antonio Baio, Project Manager of the Renovation of the Africa Hall explained the highlighted the importance of the Hall as the cradle of the Organization of the African Unity.

The Africa Hall will be revamped by 2021.

Addis Ababa, October 2018.  An emotional meeting took place at the Embassy of Cuba between the Cuban Colonel Orlando Cardoso Villavicencio, Hero of the Republic of Cuba --former prisoner in Somalia-- and a group of 50 Ethiopians who shared same period in the Somali prisons. In attendace the Hero of the Republic of Cuba and one of the Cuban Five, Fernando González Llort. 

Both parties refrerred the spirit of mutual solidarity and comradeship experienced during those difficult moments.

Toronto, October 21st, 2018. On Saturday October 20, at the headquarters of "La Casa del Habano" was celebrated the day of Cuban Culture, in an event organized by the Association of Cubans "Juan Gualberto Gómez".

Addis Ababa.  A photo exhibition was inaugurated in the Addis Ababa Museum on the experiences of the then young Ethiopians that travelled to Cuba since 1978 as part of the bilateral educational program.

One of the images remember the visit of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro to the schools of the Ethiopian students in the Isle of Youth.

During the event, the Cuban Colonel Orlando Cardoso Villavicencio launched his book "Reto a la soledad" where he remembered his years of imprisonment in Somalia during and after the Ethio-Somali war.

Tehran, October 23, 2018. Junior Peñalver, 3rd Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in Iran received at our headquarters Hadi Khansari, President of the Iran-Cuba Friendship Association, with which he reviewed the last activities carried out by said solidarity organization. Both projected important activities and actions that in the short and medium term, will be developed jointly to strengthen the brotherhood between our peoples and governments.
