New York, 19 October 2016. The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Rodolfo Reyes Rodríguez, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Cuba, extended this afternoon his warmest congratulations to Mr. Antonio Guterres on his election as Secretary-General of the United Nations, as part of the Informal Session of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly with Designate Secretary-General.

The Cuban diplomat transmitted to the higher parliamentarian of Ghana greetings sent by the President of the Cuban National Assembly of the People Power, Esteban Lazo Hernández. He explained the composition of the Cuban parliament, as well as the percent of female presence in it. He also reported on the existence of the Cuba-Ghana Parliamentary Friendship Group and the will of strengthen the relations with the Ghanaian counterpart.
Hon. John Boyce, Minister of Health of Barbados, makes a bilateral working visit to Havana on October 19 to review cooperation relations with his Cuban counterpart, Dr. Roberto Morales, while attending the regional event sponsored by Cuba and PAHO on confrontation with Zika, to be held October 20-21.

The Minister of Health of Ghana, Hon. Dr. Alex P. Segbefia welcomed the Cuban Medical Brigade that has arrived in Ghana with the objective to cooperate in the medical assistance to the Ghanaian people.
In the ceremony, with the presence of the Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne Gonzalez; the Head of the Cuban Medical Brigade, Dr. Ana Lubin and directors of regional hospitals, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the Cuban leader Fidel Castro, for his role in starting the relationship between Cuba and Ghana in the medical field.
