The Bahamas, 14 September 2017. - It was of great sadness to learn of the loss of life and the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma in Cuba. The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas extends its heartfelt condolences to the family members of the deceased, the people and the Government of the Republic of Cuba.

 

The people of The Bahamas will continue to pray for the victims and their families and they send best wishes for a quick recovery of the survivors of the storm.

The Mission of Cuba to the United Nations was honored to receive Puerto Rican activist Julio Pabón who presented at its headquarters, before a wide and diverse audience, his book Knockout, Fidel Castro visits South Bronx. Pabón said that the details of the visit made in 1995 by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution to the South Bronx deserved to reach the public.

During the years 2015 and 2016, the government of the then President of the United States, Barack Obama, put in place some measures seeking to modify the application of certain elements of the blockade against Cuba, which occurred in the framework of the reestablishment of the diplomatic relations between both countries.

However, significant obstacles to its implementation have persisted and key aspects of the blockade have been maintained, as well as the laws on which this policy is based.

Mr. Kwaku Agyeman Manu, Minister of Health of the Republic of Ghana, held a working meeting at the Headquarter of the Ministry of Health with Dr. Luis Manuel Nafez Abi-Rezh, Business Director of the Cuban Medical Services Limited, who traveled to Ghana as special representative of the Cuban Ministry of Health.

In his message, the President of the Association regrets the loss of human lives and expresses his deep grief at the difficulties that the Cuban people are facing at the moment.
