Ireland, September 13, 2017. Ireland's President Michael D. Higgins received at the Presidential House in a farewell audience at the end of his Mission to Cuban Ambassador Hermes Herrera.
President Higgins expressed his solidarity with Cuba over the serious damage caused by Hurricane Irma as it passed through the north coast of the island.
The Cuban Ambassador, Dr Francisco Fernández, payed a courtesy call to Professor V Eudine Barriteau, Vice Chancellor and Principal of UWI Cave Hill Campus to discuss several relevant topics related to the cooperation framework between this Campus and the University of Havana, like the outcomes of the Working Group recently created together to deal with cooperation matters; the possibility of signing a MOU with the University of Havana; the proposal for the creation of a Honorific Chair of Studies on José Martí – Fidel Castro; and the invitation to attend the International Congress Universit

Mr President,
The Cuban Ambassador to Bulgaria, Pedro Pablo San Jorge Rodríguez had a meeting with the Minister of Economy of Bulgaria, Emil Karanikolov held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy on September 14, 2017.
During the friendly and cordial meeting, the Bulgarian Minister sent a message of condolences for the deaths caused by Hurricane Irma and a message of support and solidarity with Cuba. They also exchanged on the current economic-trade relations and evaluated different initiatives and proposals to increase and expand them.
The Bahamas, 14 September 2017. - It was of great sadness to learn of the loss of life and the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma in Cuba. The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas extends its heartfelt condolences to the family members of the deceased, the people and the Government of the Republic of Cuba.
The people of The Bahamas will continue to pray for the victims and their families and they send best wishes for a quick recovery of the survivors of the storm.

The presentations of the book Knockout, Fidel Castro visits South Bronx, by Puerto Rican activist Julio Pabón, and Prensa Latina's exhibition of photos of the Commander-in-Chief served as an excuse for the Cuban Mission to the United Nations to pay tribute to the figure of the man who built a sovereign, independent and resilient nation proud of itself.

The Mission of Cuba to the United Nations was honored to receive Puerto Rican activist Julio Pabón who presented at its headquarters, before a wide and diverse audience, his book Knockout, Fidel Castro visits South Bronx. Pabón said that the details of the visit made in 1995 by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution to the South Bronx deserved to reach the public.

New York, 14 September 2017. During the years 2015 and 2016, the government of the then President of the United States, Barack Obama, put in place some measures seeking to modify the application of certain elements of the blockade against Cuba, which occurred in the framework of the reestablishment of the diplomatic relations between both countries.
However, significant obstacles to its implementation have persisted and key aspects of the blockade have been maintained, as well as the laws on which this policy is based.
