Cubans in U.S. A. Firm Decision to Strengthen Ties and Break Blockade

Washington, July 11, 2017.-  In light of a new context in bilateral relations, organizations of Cuban residents in the United States have maintained their firm decision to favor rapprochement between the two countries, beyond what they consider political mistakes by the White House.

For those groups of immigrants, physical distance from their homeland and the effort by the U.S. administration to destroy bilateral ties lack the necessary strength to make them give up their objectives.

Cuban delegation present at the Pacific Islands Forum

Apia, September 4, 2017.- A Cuban delegation headed by the Director-General of bilateral affairs, Gerardo Peñalver Portal, arrived last night in this capital, to take part in the 48th Edition of the Pacific Islands Forum.

The Cuban diplomat kicked off activities Monday morning, being received by CEO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Samoa, Peseta Noumea Simi. Mr. Peñalver Portal expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and acknowledge the excellent organization of this event, which will last until Friday, September 8th.

In the framework of the Festival for Peace held in the Danish city of Roskilde, Cuba's Ambassador to Denmark, Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas, stressed the importance of the total elimination of nuclear weapons, while highlighted the scope of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, as declared by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in 2014.

Cuba and Cook Islands celebrate 15 years of diplomatic relations.

Wellington, September 2, 2017. - In an emotional event hosted by the Embassy of Cuba in this city, diplomats from both countries commemorated the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, along with friends and citizens of both nations residing in New Zealand.

The High Commissioner of Cook Islands, Her Excellency Teremoana Yala, express her gratitude for the idea in coordinating this event and acknowledged Cuba´s cooperation in the training of young Pacific students in medical related careers.

BANGKOK, September 1, 2017.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, H.E. Don Pramudwinai, welcomed today the Ambassador of Cuba, Héctor Conde Almeida.

In the cordial meeting the good path of bilateral relations was confirmed and the mutual will to continue strengthening them was reiterated, with special mention to the historical significance of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries to be celebrated in May 2018.
