Nassau, February 9, 2018. - The Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, held a cordial meeting with the Foreign Minister of The Bahamas, Hon. Darren Allan Henfield, who attended the annual luncheon with the Diplomatic and the Honorary Consular Corp accredited in The Bahamas.
During the exchange, both parties reviewed the state of bilateral relations and checked key pending issues in their respective agendas.
The literacy campaign of 1961
The literacy campaign of 1961 was an inspired approach to improving educational levels among the relatively large proportion of the Cuban population that was illiterate in 1959. It was carried out with highly motivated volunteers. In a short time, literacy rates improved enormously.

THE PRESIDENT OF CYPRUS RECEIVES THE CREDENTIAL LETTERS OF THE CUBAN AMBASSADOR.
Cyprus, February 7, 2018. - The President of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Nicos Anastasiades received in the morning of today in the Presidential Palace, in a solemn ceremony, the credentials of the Cuban Ambassador in Cyprus, Omar Leyva Rafull.
New York, 8 February 2018. The Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Mrs. Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, was re-elected as Vice-Chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, based on a decision adopted by acclamation by all members of the aforementioned Committee, at a plenary meeting held with the presence of UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, last february 5th.
The Minister of Tourism of Barbados, Richard Sealy, received Cuban Ambassador, Francisco Fernandez, to evaluate initiatives that are feasible to be applied by both countries in the multi-destination modality, covered by the Memorandum of Understanding signed last December by Cuba and the countries of the Community of the Caribbean (CARICOM). Among the ideas discussed are those of taking advantage of the flow of tourists from South America and from Europe who come to the Caribbean in different ways.
