Cuban Head of Mission holds exchange on gender equality with UN Women Representative in Liberia.

Monrovia, September 13, 2022 - Gender equality and women's empowerment is a topic that is very much addressed in Liberia, on which the Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera had the opportunity to exchange with Mrs. Comfort Lamptey, UN Women Representative in the West African country.

Cuba was the first country to sign the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women at the United Nations and the second to ratify it.

Cuba strengthens its ties with ECOWAS.

Nigeria, September 13, 2022.- The Cuban ambassador to this country and to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Clara M. Pulido Escandell, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission.

The moment was propitious to address issues of common interest, they also discussed regional and international news. The exchange took place in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting the relations between Cuba and this regional organization.

Cuban diplomats receive copy of a resolution that demands the end of the blockade

A copy of a resolution demanding the end of the blockade against Cuba was received by Cuban diplomats to the UN from representatives of the City Council of the US city of Hartford, capital of Connecticut, according to what was reported in Prensa Latina.

The document asks President Joe Biden to end Washington's economic, commercial and financial siege against Cuba and normalize relations between the two countries, said José Oro, member of the board of directors of the Global Anti-Blockade Movement (NEMO).

Medal of Friendship awarded to founder of Pastors for Peace´s caravans to Cuba

New York, 13 September 2022. The Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations was the venue for the presentation of the Medal of Friendship, awarded by the President of the Republic of Cuba to William "Bill" Hill, member of the organization Pastors for Peace, for his outstanding record in favor of the normalization of ties between the Cuban and the US people.

Bill Hill, as he is known among those closest to him, is the founder of the organization's caravans to Cuba, along with the late Lucius Walker. 

Delegation of Belize Water Services makes a working visit to Cuba

Havana, September, 13 2022.- As part of its visit to Cuba, the delegation of Belize Water Services, headed by Mr. Cornelio Acosta, Chairman of the Board of BWS Ltd held a meeting with Alexander Argilagos, President of the OSDE, Integrated management of terrestrial waters (GIAT) from the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources of Cuba. In the meeting they followed-up interest in capacity building and best practices in the management of waters. (Embacuba Belize).

Kingston, 12 September, 2022. The process of awarding scholarships to Jamaican students for the 2023 school year began with the publication on the website of the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service of Jamaica of the call for applications for the Bilateral Scholarship Programme.

The deadline for applications is 14 October.
