Cuban ambassador attends Cook Islands celebration.

Wellington, August 3. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the Cook Islands Constitution Day celebration, invited by the High Commissioner of that nation, H.E. Elizabeth Right-Koteka.

On the occasion of said commemoration, the ambassador transmitted a message from Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero to his counterpart from the Cook Islands, reiterating our willingness to strengthen bilateral relations.

On September 2, Cuba and the Cook Islands will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

Cuban diplomats visit the new headquarters of Havana Coffee Works.

Auckland, July 21. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and Consul Dalila Vázquez visited the new headquarters in this city of the company Havana Coffee Works (HCW), which imports Cuban coffee.

The new facilities expand production capacities and open up prospects for greater purchases from Cuba.

During the visit, the specialists highly valued the quality of our coffee and its contribution to the success of the company.

Cuban Ambassador participates in the United Nations model.

Wellington, July 7 and 8. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the inauguration of the academic exercise "UN Youth NZMUN 2022" held at Victoria University. He conveyed to those present his message on the role of the UN and the experience of Cuba.

Hundreds of young people interested in foreign policy issues participated in the model, which simulates negotiations at the United Nations.

The young Keisya Gunawan, who represented Cuba in the exercise, had a preparation session with the Ambassador.

We ratify our conviction that young people will create a better world.

New Ambassador of New Zealand in Cuba presented credentials.

Havana, July 6. Her Excellency Sara Meymand presented to President Miguel Díaz-Canel the Letters of Credence that accredit her as the new ambassador of New Zealand to Cuba.

Meymand, who is based in Mexico, held important meetings during her visit to the island.

Undoubtedly, her preparation and energy will contribute to the strengthening of our relations.

 

Friends of Cuba visit our Embassy.

Wellington, June 12. Members of solidarity groups with Cuba visited the Embassy this Sunday to share ideas and coordinate future actions, including the celebration of July 26.

Together with union activists and others who have been involved in solidarity for years, we enjoyed a pleasant afternoon.

The Ambassador updated them on the situation in Cuba and we exchanged on the international situation.

 

Cuban Ambassador participates in the commemoration of ANZAC Day.

Wellington, April 25. In the company of other members of the Diplomatic Corps and local authorities, among other attendees, Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the official ceremony for ANZAC Day, a New Zealand national date that pays tribute to "the contribution and suffering of those who have served".

At the ceremony, attended by the Governor General, Her Excellency the Rt Hon Dame Cindy Kiro, the Ambassador laid a wreath on behalf of the Government and people of Cuba.

 

The Embassy of Cuba and the Caribbean Council hold the "Second Annual Cuba/New Zealand Dialogue".

Wellington, April 22. Sponsored by the Caribbean Council, the "Second Annual Cuba/New Zealand Dialogue" was held at the Cuban Embassy.

The President of the Council, Karim Dickie, gave the opening remarks, after which Ambassador Edgardo Valdés recalled the importance of the Victory of Girón (Bay of Pigs) in the history of Cuba and addressed the internal situation of the island, relations with the United States, links with New Zealand and business and investment opportunities in Cuba, in addition to other aspects of the international scene.

Vice President of "World Beyond War" visited the Embassy of Cuba.

Wellington, April 19. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and First Secretary Dalila Vázquez met at the Embassy with Liz Remmerswaal, Vice President of "World Beyond War", who visited us with her husband.

We had an interesting exchange on the international situation and cooperation in defense of peace between Cuban and New Zealand organizations.

We established avenues for cooperation between ICAP and "World Beyond War", an organization dedicated to the search for peace.
