South African friends honour Cuba's spirit of resilience

Cape Town, 24 February 2026.- The Friendship Association with Cuba in South Africa, FOCUS, especially the Western Cape chapter, commemorated the 131st anniversary of the reigniting of the struggle for Cuban independence in a statement. The statement recognizes the resilience of the Cuban people, who are not giving up today, just as they did not give up 131 years ago, when they had practically won the war against Spain and US imperialism intervened. 

Foreign Ministers of Cuba and South Africa hold bilateral meeting

Pretoria, 23 February 2026.- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla held a fruitful bilateral meeting with his South African counterpart, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola, during the High-Level Segment of the 61st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. The meeting is part of regular exchanges between the two sister nations, which share a common past. 

Gathering held with young Cubans living in South Africa

Pretoria, 22 February 2026.- Young Cubans living in South Africa reaffirmed their love for their homeland and their rejection of the intensification of unilateral coercive measures against Cuba at a meeting held on Sunday. With their messages of solidarity, the young people reaffirmed that Cuba is not alone and that the Cuban spirit that characterises us is never lost, even despite the geographical distance.

ANC reaffirms its historic solidarity with Cuba

Pretoria, February 18, 2026.- The Deputy Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC), Nomvula Mokonyane, reiterated the party's solidarity with the government and people of Cuba in the face of renewed and harsher sanctions against the island and the United States oil blockade. During the meeting, they also discussed how to strengthen the inter-party relations between the ANC and the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), as well as bilateral cooperation.

African Union approves resolution against blockade in solidarity with Cuba

Addis Ababa, February 15, 2026. For the seventeenth consecutive time, the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union approved a resolution condemning the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba, a policy that for more than six decades has profoundly affected the Cuban people and hindered their development.
