AZERBAIJAN, CUBA DISCUSS PROSPECTS FOR TOURISM COOPERATION

Chairman of Azerbaijan`s State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev has met with Cuban Ambassador to the country Alfredo Nieves Portuondo to discuss prospects for tourism cooperation.
The sides stressed the importance of friendly relations between the two countries.
“Cuba is always interested in participating in the International Tourism and Travel Fair in Baku,” the Cuban ambassador said.
Alfredo Nieves Portuondo invited Fuad Naghiyev to attend a tourism event to be held in Havana in May, 2019.

Cuba participated in the Tourism Fair "Ferie for Alle" held from 23 to 25 February in the city of Herning, Denmark. This event is considered the largest of its kind in the Scandinavian region, with an average of more than 61 thousand visitors and 1100 exhibitors in the last five years. Within the framework of the fair, the potentialities of the Cuban tourist industry were promoted, through exchanges with the main tour operators, travel agencies and the Scandinavian public who could count on updated information on the products and tourist modalities offered by the Island.

Deputy Minister of Tourism ratifies Cuba will be fully recovered for high season

During a working visit to Spain, the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cuba (MINTUR) Mr. Luis Miguel Díaz, met with the local press in the Madrid offices of Grupo Excelencias.

In this meeting, the deputy minister thanked the press for its quick response in such a short notice and for the opportunity to meet with the main tour operators, airlines and specialized press to give them an update of the situation of Cuban tourism, its state and recovery after the passing of Hurricane Irma.

Cuba Operators Concerned about Exaggerated Hurricane Media Coverage

Operators of tours to Cuba are concerned that the picture presented in the major media of the hurricane damage to the island will discourage travel to Cuba.

“Unfortunately, there has been quite a bit of misreporting on conditions in Cuba,” said Bob Drumm, president of Alexander + Roberts. “The all-inclusive resorts on the Cuban keys are not relevant to American travelers, for example.”
