Statement by the Revolutionary Government
On June 16th, 2017, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in a speech full of hostile rhetoric given at a theater in Miami, which reminded the times of open confrontation with our country, announced the policy of his government towards Cuba which reverts the progress achieved in the past two years, after that on December 17th, 2014 the presidents Raúl Castro Ruz and Barack Obama made public the decision to reestablish diplomatic relations and start a process towards the normalization of bilateral ties.
Director of Cuban company CUBAEXPORT visits Trinidad and Tobago.
Port of Spain, June 8 From June 6 to June 8, the general director of the company CUBAEXPORT, Isabel O'rreilly, carried out an intense program of work that included visits and exchanges with several Trinidadian State institutions and Trinidadian private companies with the objective to promote Cuban products to the Caribbean market. The Cuban official presented Cuban products of international quality and prestige such as coffee and honey, marketed with various brands. The official was also able to initiate the exploration of new forms of association, cooperation and complementation based on the technology and development of the manufacturing industry of Trinidad and Tobago.
The visit is part of the growing interest of both countries to promote and develop bilateral trade, which in 2016 surpassed the figure of 100 million dollars.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Caricom of Trinidad and Tobago received Cuban ambassador.
Port of Spain, May 25, 2017. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Caricom of Trinidad and Tobago, Honorable Dennis Moses, received the ambassador of Cuba, Guillermo Vázquez Moreno, at the Ministry.
During the meeting both sides exchange on different topics of international news and bilateral agenda. They also examined the current status of various draft agreements which are expected to be signed shortly and welcomed the satisfactory state of relations between the two countries,
The meeting reaffirmed the willingness of Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago to strengthen bilateral ties in the different spheres.
Cuba participates in Art and Culture Festival "Vista Latina" in the Trinidadian capital.
Port of Spain, May 26 .- With the participation of more than 400 students from several secondary schools in Trinidad and Tobago, began today the second edition of the festival "Vista Latina" organized by the trinitarian company TRINITICA. The event, whose main objective is to show the young people of the country the diversity and cultural richness of Latin America and the Hispanic Caribbean, had a valuable support from Caribbean and Central American Embassies in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Ministry of Education launched a Human Medicine Scholarship Program for young Trinidadians offered by Cuba
Port Spain, May 10-. Cuban Government granted 9 scholarships as part of a scholarship program that Cuba has had with CARICOM countries for over three decades.
The studies includes general medicine, radiography and physical therapy.
