COP27 must reflect climate change threats, says President Díaz-Canel

Havana, 8  November 2022. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Tuesday considered that the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) should reflect the threat posed by this scourge to humankind.

The Cuban leader posted on his official Twitter account about the liability of “northern nations” in greenhouse gas emissions, a situation that has threatened the entire world.

2022 Havana Clasica Festival starts in Cuba

Havana, 5 November 2022. The 4th edition of the 2022 Habana Clasica Festival, one of the most significant events of its kind in Cuba, started in this capital on Saturday until November 20 with the participation of 50 musicians from Europe and North America.

The gala will consist of a concert at the Basilica of the San Francisco de Asis Convent in Old Havana at 18:00 hours, local time, by Cuban instrumentalists Niurka Gonzalez (flute) and Lissy Abreu (violin), and pianists Marcos Madrigal and Aldo Lopez-Gavilan.

Cubans recall anniversary of Operation Carlota

Havana, 5 November 2022. Cubans on Saturday are recalling the beginning of Operation Carlota in which the Caribbean nation collaborated in the struggle for the independence of the current Republic of Angola and other Southern African countries.

On November 5, 1975, the Cuban Government decided to send troops to Angola at a request for help from the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), which was facing external aggression aimed at thwarting independence.

Overwhelming support for Cuba at UN against the US blockade

United Nations, 3 November 2021. Cuba scored a new victory on Thursday in its struggle against the United States blockade by achieving overwhelming support at the United Nations (UN) for a resolution passed by 185 votes in favor.

The resolution was only opposed by the United States and its staunched ally Israel, while Brazil and Ukraine abstained.
